WORDS FREE ORBITAL SEA - youtube link
The video is a propitiatory dance of architectural prototypes, orbital theatres (Ottovolante, Panorama, Terraxterra and Trabicolo) and orbital cities (Cilindrica, Spiralica and Conica) designed in the 1990s, to meditate and contemplate a possible inhabitable future. Animations are done by Primož Špacapan. (The music for the video is from 2019 and is part of the Konstrans, spontaneous and contemplative chants or mantras)
HUMAN SPACE IN WEIGHTLESSNESS
Synthetic reflection on the dance of architectural prototypes and the psycho-physical changes in gravity-free space.
THE IDEA - Spirit in a partial space-time
The basic idea of a researcher is to be able to live anywhere. (bearing in mind that, as Fellini said, nothing is known and everything is imagined)
The consciousness in establishing new relations in the evolutionary structure of civilisation is based on the assumption of responsibility. Responsibility is presence. Presence is research. Research means establishing real contacts with the inner world, which is opaque and full of inexplicable sensations that create tensions. The quest seeks to transform these sensations into tangible facts, which can only be achieved in rare moments of creative ecstasy of an otherwise undetectable spirit. The consciousness of the spirit that lives and attempts to understand the whole in the first person, creates a conscious relationship with the outer world through the sentient intuition of one's enlarged body. The space is nothing other than the idea of the habitable future of this enlarged body.
Any absolute conviction on the path of habitability in space is therefore a leap into the void and the sincere expression of a partial truth. To remain in balance, one must continually update oneself ideologically, scientifically and culturally.
THE PSYCHOPHYSICAL CONDITION
Artificial gravity consists of using a source capable of imparting to a generic body a linear acceleration. In a microgravity environment this allows the crew and cargo contained by the module a simulation of a force field that replaces the earth's gravity.
The study of all present, real, apparent and unforeseen forces is what mainly characterises the first hundred years of research and life in space. The first satellites, the first low-orbit pilots and pioneers, the first journeys to the moon, and the relatively short periods of permanence in space in the absence of gravity in the two orbital stations, the MIR and the International Space Station, are predominantly geared towards understanding all the complexities of this new direction and condition of life.
THE INTENT
The winged eye is from the most ancient civilisations the symbol of knowing how to see, knowing where and how to walk in one's own footsteps, where and how to fly in harmony with one's themselves and with the divine, where and how to sow in a propitious and sustainable way one's experiences, knowledge and passions. It is the ultimate expression of our potential qualities in every sense. It is the everlasting intention to create for ourselves and for others a better world. (a discourse almost absent in the cynicism of today's civilisation.)
Space, from Earth's orbit, offers us the opportunity to see from the distance wisely and more lightly the absurdities that prevent us from fulfilling even the slightest of these noble intentions. Lightness is the main tool that characterises zero gravity space. Lightness is indispensable to be able to rethink and reformulate personal beliefs and stagnant cultural discourses that underlie the unnecessary suffering and chronic conflicts that do not allow us to dialogue, see and encounter possible solutions.
In the earthly vastness we are reduced to living and seeing the bare minimum. In the minimal spaces of spaceships and autarkic space houses, we have no choice but to encounter the vastness of a more purposeful, more constructive thought that is more proactive, more constructive in decomposing instead of destroying, more capable in reforming obsolete conflicting truths and more willing to accept the inner mutation indispensable for a serenely encounter of new dimensions and new cosmic Indians with whom we can share new knowledge and boundless horizons.
Trieste/Sveto, April 2024 - Raj X Tot
The text is the summary of the talk on evolution and research for habitability in the space with the absence of gravity, written on the occasion of a visit, held on 12. April 2024, to the Noordung Centre of space technologies in Vitanje (Slovenia) by the group of enthusiasts, architects, scientists and artists organised by the “Stazione Rogers” from Trieste (Italy) in collaboration with the Noordung Centre as part of the “Abitare HUB” project.
